Letterpress cock-ups

This sheet of drab grey paper has been transformed by the abstract type images that have built up on it and it is a sheet of beginners mistakes, lash-ups and cock-ups.
Graphic Design students brought up to work on computers used to get excited about the hands-on process of letterpress, wood type, the paper, the smell of the ink and the sound of the press and because of these distractions they used to forget to put the paper in the grippers. Obviously they must have been high on the ink fumes.
I used to get so fed up with changing the sheet on the drum that I started changing it weekly instead of twice a day. This is the result of all that type and image build-up and one of the few that I managed to retain, the rest of the sheets being swiftly claimed by the students.
No doubt one of the family will now, in turn, cadge this one off me for framing.
