Dead on its feet

Not so long ago this plant was all grey green and showing successive blooms of yellow flowers. Now it has got a real touch of the autumns and it's all dried up, brittle and looking very, very dog-eared. The colours almost match the farmer's firewood kindling pile that he is working his way through in readiness for the coming fire-lighting season.
Hopefully the plant will have spread its seeds around the immediate area and we'll have a whole new generation of plants standing to attention next summer.
Meanwhile it really is ashes to ashes for the once proud wild flower.
